Principal’s Welcome

It is with great pride that I warmly invite you to share in the spirit of our East Doncaster Secondary College community.

Our College was established in 1974 and is situated in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It has grown to include some 1500 students and more than 160 teachers and support staff.

Over recent years the school has improved facilities in the Science, Technology and Food Technology areas, along with a range of classroom improvements, all complemented by major grounds and infrastructure works. Our next phase of development will include a new Sports Centre, Visual and Performing Arts facilities and Administration Centre.

We work hard to develop a tolerant and cohesive learning environment to enable our students to flourish and allow them to become thinking, articulate and enriched young adults. We have high expectations that our students will commit to being supportive of each other as they strive for success as learners. We are proudly multicultural with a student population comprising 43 nationalities, including a number of international students. In fact, about one third of our students speak a language other than English at home.

Our professional teaching staff have high regard for their students and endeavour to create a Culture of Curiosity that will ensure learning improvement for every student.

We value the trust that parents place in us to share the responsibility of educating their children and maintain a collaborative approach through effective and regular communication with all members of our school community.

A student’s life at our College is full of opportunities, both rich and varied, with a range of co-curricular activities on offer in music, sport, drama productions, debating and various clubs. There are also camps at each year level and international experiences for the educational and personal development of all learners. Our students are vibrant, energetic, and talented young people who embrace many student leadership opportunities. In this area, our goal is to continue to increase student access to decision-making and self-determination within the College.

At East Doncaster Secondary College we have a strong tradition of academic excellence and we aim to promote and sustain a reflective learning culture. We want students to experience a sense of achievement and growth in their academic, personal, social and emotional development.

At our College we continue to embrace the ever-changing challenges we encounter in our quest to be a truly excellent, global, educational community.
